about

Not only did our conquest save the world, but the spoils of war bring our civilization new technology that we could never have dreamed of. We recklessly use these advancements to take our world to the stars, slowly losing grip on what we even valued to begin with. Amidst the growing sea of people, we lose our ability to express ourselves, our virtues, and our creativity in lieu of order and uniformity. The “First Contact” sample is our discovery of another world, much like us at the beginning of this story. Our story ends as we set a course for this new civilization with the sole intent on “fixing” them.

With this new-found technology, we are able to fulfill our dreams and take our civilization to the stars. This however creates a problem for the kind of people we are. The scale of our civilization becomes too grand, and in order to expand properly, measure are taken to quell diversity, creativity, novelty, and the universal truths in lieu of order and uniformity.

We become the antagonist.

The final synthesizer solo represents the communications of another world, similar to us at the beginning of this story. We see them, become disgusted, and send out our massive fleets of spacecraft to destroy them, and any other new life we discover.

In the end, we are content.

lyrics

Let go of all of the woes
that keep you down on the ground now and
realize our story had to end
but another carries on

Let’s, let’s be the ones who will
take to the stars and build new world order
Dreams are made of sweet memories
that fade every day

A scale much too grand
What do we dream of
When there’s nothing to say
as we iron out our lives

We have become what we
fought to destroy
There is nothing left to create
but order for all
